RCIA

Have you ever wondered what the Catholic Church is all about?  Have you been attending Mass with your spouse or a friend, but haven’t fully participated because you come from a different faith tradition or no religious tradition?  Were you baptized in the Church but for some reason never received the other sacraments?  The RCIA is the process by which people explore the Catholic faith or continue the sacramental process started but not completed as a child.  The inquiry sessions are informal and based on participants needs and questions.  For more information, please contact Ann Jackson @ 883-0757, ext. 8 or in the evening @ 882-9172

may call the parish office or put a note in the collection basket.  Address the note to Paula and give your name, address and the name of the deceased.  You’ll receive a letter reminding you of the date and time of the Mass.

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE

The Book of Remembrance will once again be displayed next to the baptismal font during the month of November.  You are encouraged to enter the names of any of your deceased relatives or friends provided that they do not already appear on the pages of this book.  Please note that all prior entries as well as any newly inscribed ones will be remembered in prayer throughout the month.

ADULT CONFIRMATION

Anyone interested in Adult Confirmation should contact Brian Jackson @ 882-9172 or call the parish office @ 883-0757, ext. 2.

HAVE YOU REGISTERED?

If not, please pick up a green registration form in the gathering space after Mass.  Fill it out and place it in the collection basket, mail it or turn it into the front office during our business hours.

ADDRESS CHANGE INFORMATION

In order to keep our records up to date would you be so kind to let the office know if your address has changed.  You can call the office at 883-0757, x-2, drop the info in the collection basket or mail it to the church address.  This is also a way to be cost effective because when we send out mailings and your address changes it is returned here to the parish and then we must send it again to the correct address.  Thanks!!!

Bishop Christian,

May God bless you abundantly

for your service to the Lord and his people

for these 40 years.

Bishop Francis Joseph Christian was ordained a bishop by Bishop Leo E. O’Neil, the eighth Bishop of Manchester, on May 14, 1996. Pope John Paul II appointed him as the Auxiliary Bishop of Manchester

Bishop Christian was born October 8, 1942 in Peterborough, NH, the only child of the late Joseph L. and Dorothy M. Christian. He attended Jaffrey public schools and is a 1960 graduate of Conant High School.

Bishop Christian studied at Saint Anselm College in Manchester for two years, before entering the seminary in 1962. He studied at Saint Paul Seminary in Ottawa from 1962 to 1964 and completed his undergraduate study with a B.A. and a B.Ph. from the University of Ottawa, in 1964. He studied at the American College at the University of Louvain in Belgium from 1964 to 1968, earning a master’s degree in theology in 1968.

Bishop Ernest J. Primeau, the sixth bishop of Manchester, ordained Bishop Christian to the priesthood on June 29, 1968 at Saint Patrick Parish in Jaffrey. He served three years at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Merrimack and a year at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Manchester, both as parochial vicar, before returning to Louvain in 1973 for doctoral work in moral theology. Bishop Christian completed his Ph.D. summa cum laude in religious studies with a specialization in moral theology in February 1975.

Bishop Christian was appointed assistant chancellor of the Diocese of Manchester in March 1975, and was made chancellor in June 1977. Pope John Paul II named Bishop Christian a prelate of honor, which includes the title "Monsignor," in 1986.

Today, Bishop Christian serves the Diocese of Manchester as Vicar General and Vicar for Priest Personnel.

The Christian Formation Committee and the Adult Education Team invites to come and prepare your hearts for his arrival as we reflect on the reading for the four Sundays of Advent with

 Bishop Christian.

The evening will begin at 6:30pm with a light supper, and will include biblical reflection by

Bishop Christian and small group discussions.  You do not have to have prior experience in Bible sharing to attend.  Everyone is welcomed

ST. JOSEPH HOLIDAY FAIR, NOVEMBER 22ND

Raffle basket requests

Yes, it is that time again to be thinking about our annual Holiday Fair.  The Fundraising Committee is looking for individuals or groups in the parish or neighborhood groups to come together to create a Raffle Basket for our holiday fair.

Last year we raised over $1,900, our largest amount ever thanks to all of your wonderful basket ideas!  Can we do it again?  Oh yes with your help let’s make this year our very best!

We had more than 30 baskets to choose from and they were beautiful.

Please contact Helen Dumont at 883-0757, ext. 3 if you would like to donate a theme basket this year.  We ask that all items donated be brand new, never used.  Thank you!

Check out our weekly bulletin for suggestions!
