FIRST READING: Genesis 2:7-9, 3:1-7 The story of Adam and Eve's fall to the serpent's temptation is a reminder to us of the danger that pride, jealousy and envy present to us in our lives today. SECOND READING: Romans 5:12-19 Just as we are one with Adam in sin, so we have the opportunity to be one in Christ's redemption. GOSPEL: Matthew 4:1-11 Though the Hebrews following Moses failed to be strong and trust in God during their time in the desert, Jesus overcomes temptation and illustrates the power of God's Word. |
