Juliette Desmarais

Julie Desmarais was born in Wilton in 1934. She has lived in Nashua all of her life, except for 15 years when she and her late husband, Lou, lived in Merrimack. Lou passed away on April 8, 2011. They were married on Nov. 11, 1952, at Infant Jesus Church. Childhood sweethearts, they grew up 3 houses apart in the Crown Hill area of Nashua. Lou was her first date, her first boyfriend and, although Julie had been engaged to another, when Lou returned from the Marine Corps, she and Lou married and remained married for 59 years.

Julie and Lou had four children: Luane, John, Peter, and an infant son, Michael Charles, who passed away at 3 days old from a lung disease.  Luane Genest is a 5th grade teacher at Sunset Heights and lives in Nashua with her husband Steve. They have 3 sons: Corey, Gregory and Timothy; and 3 grandchildren: Vera, Brody, and Harper.  John Desmarais is a retail business manager and lives in Tennessee with his wife Sue. They have 2 children: Kristen and John (JD); and 7 grandchildren: Katelyn, Jenna, Kallie, Olivia, Jack, Lucy, and Hannah.  Peter Desmarais is a BAE Contract Administrator and lives in Merrimack with his wife Kim and son Michael.

Julie worked at Harper's in downtown Nashua as a buyer and window decorator. Lou worked at Nashua Corporation as an Engineer and opened a Karate School after retirement.

Lou and Juliette joined the parish of St. Joseph the Worker approximately 15 years ago. Prior to joining our parish, Julie was a Eucharistic Minister at Infant Jesus for 10 years and a member of their Bereavement Committee for 6 years. She was also Mass Coordinator for all masses for 6 years at St. John Evangelist Church in Hudson. Julie has been a long-time volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital for the past 21 years where she volunteers in the 4th floor Rehab Department.

Here at St. Joseph's, Julie has been a Eucharistic minister for 9 years and she is a member of the refreshment committee headed by Donna Cormier. Julie and her late husband, Lou, generously provided many basket donations for the Outreach committee over the years.

Our parish gratefully recognizes all that Julie has done and continues to do to build up God's Kingdom among us and we ask God's blessings upon her and her family.
